Get to Know Karlie
Karlie Holmen will be a Senior at Marshall County High School this Fall 2024, and is a member of Fellow of Christian Athletes, FFA, and Student Leadership, and Academic Honor Roll. Recently, Karlie has been inducted into the prestigious National Honor Society, a testament to her outstanding academic prowess, leadership, and commitment to excellence.
She loves cheerleading for the Marshall County Marshals and MatPack Allstar cheer. One person that she would like to meet is Bethany Hamilton. She is such an inspiring person. While surfing, Bethany lost her arm in a shark attack. She never let that stop her from pursuing her dreams of becoming a professional surfer. She also has very strong faith, which Karlie admires.
True
Animal Lover!
Karlie’s life ambition is to be a veterinarian and run her own practice. She is passionate about animals and hopes to have a practice that can give back to the community by offering a monthly free spaying and neutering clinic in order to help control the pet population, because she feels there are far too many dogs and cats in need of loving, safe homes.
The moment in her life that she is most proud of is recently winning the Miss Western Kentucky State Fair Pageant and then going onto Miss Kentucky County Fair Pageant and placing in the top 15. Karlie says she has always been shy and afraid to try new things. She states her pride is not necessarily in winning but rather in pushing herself to try something new even if it felt slightly scary to her. It's shown her she can face the unknown and be successful.
Karlie Cares
She loves animals and spends a lot of her time volunteering at the Marshall County Humane Society. In addition to volunteering her time, Karlie enjoys raising community awareness about all the pets available at their local humane society that would make fabulous additions to one's family. She says, "I find it very important to educate people about the necessity of spaying and neutering their pets in order to control the population. I volunteer my time at the Humane Society by spending quality time with the animals giving them baths, taking them out to play, cleaning the kennels, and giving them sweet treats!"
Karlie is also passionate about competitive cheer. Her gym recently started a team for exceptional athletes called CheerAbilities. We are so excited! She is hoping to volunteer time with these athletes as well.
